Always a good thing to do when you are in a new place is to look if there is a tour about the local things. Because when you are new in town you don’t know the best places where you can go. So I found via Viator a Bar Hopping Tour. This tour I joined is very new. There weren’t any review yet so I just took a shot. I am so glad I did.
If you want to experience the local food and drinks then this is the best thing you can do.
So our tour guide Hic is a very kind person who knows a lot and he spoke very good English. He waited for us on time at the meeting point which is also easy to find. Because this tour was very new there were only 2 people who signed up. But nevertheless it was so fun. We got our private tour :). On our way to the first bar we stopped by a statue, there he told us the meaning about it. Also when we walked he talked about the side streets what you can find there. It was all very interesting.
At our first stop we went to a restaurant which wasn’t that big but very cozy. This was a stop if I went alone I wouldn’t go in there. But these kind of bars they mostly have the good food and drinks. Because I didn’t know any of the dishes I trusted Hic I asked him his recommendations and will choose anything he said :). I really wanted to eat and taste something new and I must say everything tasted very good also the drinks were very nice. Wow, one drink I had and you really could taste the alcohol but, it was very good. I’m glad we also get a big glass of water. So in here while enjoying the food and drinks you will get the nostalgic Japan feeling!
After this we walked to the next stop. On our way there he talked about the shops in the market. It is so easy to listen to him, he explained everything so good. Arriving at our second stop we went to a very local restaurant. It was a renovated traditional Okinawan house. The people here were so friendly and nice. If you wanted to go the toilet you need to take your shoes off, but they got slippers so you can use that. Everything was also so clean and neat. The food here was very good. I think we had 5 different delicious traditional dishes and all of them had their own unique and wonderful taste. I also had to drink “Awamori” this is an Okinawan Sake, I drank this with soda and I choose one with a sweet potato taste. This was also very good, not that strong as in the first restaurant but still strong. While enjoying this all you can feel the real history of Okinawa. We stayed here for about an hour and then we walked to stop number three.
Stop number three was a stop where we enjoyed food, drinks and live Okinawan folk songs. This was something different and lots of fun. It is so enjoyable to listen to music while drinking and eating, If you enter this restaurant you need to take of you shoes. So were clean socks 😉 also if you dare you can drink Habu-shu (snake liquor). I wasn’t that brave enough :p.
Overall this tour was so much fun to do. I recommend this tour to everyone who is going to Okinawa “Naha”. You will have such a good time with Hic!
